METRIC *WIDE SPORTS SHIELD

MOUNTING PLATES INSTRUCTIONS

 

 

TOOLS REQUIRED:  3/16” Allen Wrench                                       7/16” or 11mm Wrench

 

ALWAYS COVER THE FRONT FENDER AND GAS TANK TO PREVENT ANY POSSIBLE DAMAGE

 

1.    Install the mounting plates on the windshield using the bolts that are pre-assembled on the mounting plates. The santoprene grommet should be inserted through the holes in the windshield so the flat round washer part of the grommet lays flat on both sides of the windshield. On each plate, get both tabs started before you tighten them.                                                                                                                                                                                       

       (See Figure 1.1 & 1.2)

 

                        Note:     *(Wide) - Tabs point towards each other when installed correctly.

                                         

2.   Loosen the four bolts that are to hold the mounting plates to the fork clamps, and slide the mounting plates onto the fork    clamps. (See figure 2)

 

3.       Adjust the height, angle, and alignment of the shield. Carefully check gas tank clearance, and tighten all mounting bolts.

 

4.    Place the non-used windshield in a safe storage area. Preferably in a Memphis Shades windshield storage bag.

       Storage bag for Fats/Slims part #MEM0980, Storage bag for Sportshields part #MEM0985.

 

                  WARNING:  This is a quick disconnect kit.  Always tighten down all mounting bolts after removing

                   or installing the windshield every time

Care and Cleaning

 

Never use any Petroleum based chemicals, or cleaning agents with ammonia.

To clean your windshield, use only warm water and a mild, non-abrasive, dishwashing liquid. Use a soft cloth such as a

Cotton T-shirt or flannel cloth.  To protect your windshield use NOVUS #2 to remove minor scratches, or Memphis Shades

Shinola* polish specially designed for plastic, glass cleansing agents will cause severe damage to your windshield, never

use any glass product. This includes Rain-X, brake fluid, acetone, and gasoline.
