MEMPHIS FATS/SLIM MOUNTING KIT FOR

KAWASAKI VN800B VULCAN CLASSIC AND VN1500D VULCAN CLASSIC

 

TOOLS REQUIRED:

(1)  Towel                             (1) 10mm Wrench

(1)  17mm Wrench              (1) 3/16" Allen Wrench (provided)

(1)     Phillips Screwdriver    (1) 7/16" or 11mm Wrench

(1)     8mm Wrench

 

1.      Cover the front fender and gas tank with towels to avoid possible damage during installation.

2.      Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the headlight assembly from the headlight nacelle (bucket), unplug it and set it aside.

3.      With an 8mm wrench and a 10mm wrench, remove the headlight nacelle from the lower triple tree and set it aside. (See Fig. 1)

4.      Using a 17mm wrench, remove the handlebar bolt nuts(under triple tree)( See Fig. 2) and slip the cable holder bracket off the bolts. Slip on the upper mounting bracket from the kit (tabs pointing down), slip the cable holder back on the bolts, put the nuts back on and tighten them.

5.      Using the 3/16" allen wrench provided, loosely bolt the two vertical plates to the upper mounting bracket then loosely install the lower mounting bracket to the two vertical windshield plates. The lower mounting bracket should rest atop of the lower triple tree (tabs pointing up).

6.      Re-install the headlight nacelle using the 6mm bolts and nuts provided, then plug in the headlight and re-install the headlight assembly.

7.      Bolt the windshield up to the two vertical plates using the bottom and third bolt up, leaving off the nylon washers. Check alignment and secure all hardware.

CARE AND CLEANING

To clean your windshield, wash it with warm water and a mild, non-abrasive, dishwashing liquid. Use a soft cloth such as a T-shirt or flannel cloth.

To protect your windshield, use NOVUS #2 to remove minor scratches, or use polish specially designed for plastic. NEVER use glass cleansing agents, they cause severe damage to your acrylic windshield.

Never use any petroleum-based chemicals, or cleaning agents with ammonia.

This includes Rain-X, brake fluid, acetone and gasoline.
