BEFORE INSTALLATION
1. Loosely install the windshield mounting plates on the
windshield using the bottom most bolt and the third bolt up on both sides. The tabs or ears on the plates need to point
in towards the headlight when installed correctly. Set it aside for later installation. (See figure 4)
2. Remove the headlight by extracting the two phillips screws located on the
headlight housing just behind the headlight rim, towards the bottom. (See figure 3 for location)
3.
Unplug the
headlight and set it aside for later re-installation. Extract the three original 6MM bolts located
inside the headlight housing. Remove the
washers from the top two bolts and install them on the new 6MMx30MM screws
provided. Let the housing rest
carefully so that it doesn’t fall. (See
figure 2 for bolt location)
4. Pull the chrome cover off the front of the turn signal
bar. Remove the turn signal bar by
extracting the original 8MM Allen screws that hold it in place. Let the bar hang freely momentarily, it will
not damage the turn signal wires.
5. Install the top of the left side bracket between the
headlight housing and the headlight bracket. Use one of the 6MMx30MM Allen
bolts to hold it loosely in place. To install the bottom of the bracket, use
one of the new 8MMx45MM Allen bolts provided, place the bolt through the
bracket first, then the countersunk spacer, followed by the turn signal bar.
6. Repeat the above steps for the left side. (Ref.
figure 1)
7. Once both brackets are in place and the new 6MMx30MM
bolts are loosely installed. Loosely
re-install the original lower bolt inside the headlight housing, tighten down
the turn signal bar bolts first, followed by the three in the headlight. Re-install the headlight and double-check all
mounting bolts.
*NOTE:
With this installation the turn signal bar cover does not fit properly, it is
recommended
to not re-install the turn signal bar cover.
8. To install the windshield, loosen the four Allen
screws on the sides of both brackets. Slip the
windshield mounting plates onto the brackets starting the
upper slot first, then slip the bottom slot in.
Adjust the height and angle. Tighten down the mounting bolts followed by
the windshield bolts.
NEVER
RIDE WITH ANY PART OF THE MOUNTING HARDWARE MISSING OR LOOSE
To clean your windshield,
use only warm water and a mild non-abrasive, dishwashing liquid. Use a soft
cloth, such as a T-shirt or flannel cloth. To protect your windshield, please
use Novus #2 to remove minor scratches,
or use a polish like Memphis Shades Shinola
which is specially designed for plastic windshields; glass cleansing agents
will cause severe damage to your windshield and will void
your warranty.
Never use any glass products, petroleum based chemicals, or cleaning
agents with ammonia, bleach or any harsh chemicals. This includes Rain-X, brake
fluid, acetone, and gasoline.
