Towels
(1)
6mm Allen wrench (provided)
(1)
½ wrench
(1)
3/16 Allen wrench
(provided)
(1)
7/16 or 11mm wrench
Always cover the front fender and gas tank with a
towel to avoid possible damage.
1.
Using a 1/2 wrench, remove the two original upper
passing lamp bolts located on the sides of the forks, also temporarily remove
the steel spacers behind the passing lamp frame. Replace the bolts with the new longer upper
mount assemblies (use the 1-1/2 long bolt assemblies). Reinstall the original
steel spacers behind the light bar bracket. (See note) Leave the assemblies loose to enable the
windshield to slip into place later.
2.
Using the 6mm Allen wrench provided, loosely install the two lower
mounting bolts (use the ½ long bolt assemblies) directly underneath the new
upper bolt assemblies, currently there are no bolts in these holes.
3.
Loosely attach the windshield to the windshield mounting plates using
the bottom and third bolt up on each side. Leave the nylon washers off. The
mounting tabs should be pointing in towards the headlight when installed
correctly.
4.
With the mounting bolts loose, slip the windshield plates onto the
mounting brackets, adjust the angle and height to the desirable location and
tighten all mounting hardware.
5. To remove and install the windshield,
loosen all four of the mounting points and slip the windshield from its place,
make sure to always tighten the bolts when the shield is removed.
6. Carefully check gas tank clearance, as
some models might have had aftermarket gas tanks put on. Turn the
steering stop to stop and make sure
the hardware does not strike the fuel tank.
To clean your windshield,
use only warm water and a mild non-abrasive, dishwashing liquid. Use a soft
cloth, such as a T-shirt or flannel cloth. To protect your windshield, please
use Novus #2 to remove minor scratches, or use a polish like Memphis
Shades Shinola which is specially designed for plastic
windshields; glass cleansing agents will cause severe damage to
your windshield and will void your warranty.
Never use
any glass products, petroleum based chemicals, or cleaning agents with ammonia,
bleach or any harsh chemicals. This includes Rain-X, brake fluid, acetone, and
gasoline.
